About Peter Brunette

Peter Brunette, Educator, Teacher, People Skills DevelopmentPeter Brunette is the president of People Skills Development. He has proven and expert-level talent management skills, and the knowledge of and passion for helping people and organizations to enhance relationships and performance. His ability to listen intensely and to work in collaborative partnerships with managers and department supervisors has enabled him to develop comprehensive and effective talent development solutions in diverse organizations. This is one of his towering strengths as well a total joy for him.

He has worked with facility managers, department managers, and associates to develop successful and effective training teams that focus on strategies to enhance performance. Another strength is to help individuals, managers and others to develop a vision for developing others, develop an effective action plan, and successfully execute that plan.

 

Highlights of Peter’s credentials in 35 years of personal/business coaching and talent management experience:

  • Successful coaching of hundreds of individuals helped them develop their goals and assist them in developing practical action plans that increase their chances of success.
  • Assisted small and large businesses to understand their business and people bottlenecks, eliminate log jams and move them to accomplish their goals
  • Talent management expertise in diverse organizations such as paper, power, skilled nursing and retail
  • Northeast Regional Training consultant for IP (a Fortune 60 company with 100,000 employees), responsible for all training and development at 50 locations with 15,000 employees. Managed the national level Team Leader Workshop, which consisted of (2) 1-week supervisory skills courses attended by managers, supervisors and lead people from 126 locations. It was offered in multiple areas of the country.
  • Supervisor of Training and Development at International Paper’s Jay, Maine 1,200 person paper mill, conducting training needs assessments for the facility and each department and developing a comprehensive facility-wide training plan. Performed all functions of training and development, including leadership and supervisor skills training. Performed management development functions of hiring and firing, succession planning, and coaching employees and managers. Coordinated the technical skills training at the facility.
  • Invented, developed and utilize a comprehensive Performance Improvement Training System that provides a framework to analyze and develop training needs. It focuses on leadership, work environment, technical skills, people skills and team skills, all of which are built on the keystone of relationships built on trust.
  • Conducted organization-wide, facility and department level training needs analyses that led to comprehensive learning systems.
  • Coached and counseled employees, supervisors and managers on workforce development issues including performance improvement, supervisory skills, and career development, communications and Train-the-Trainer courses.
  • Led several team projects from initial design through successful implementation in the areas of leadership development, national-level courses such as supervisory and technical skills as well as quality improvement and cost reduction teams.
  • Utilizing two Train-the-Trainer courses that I developed, I have trained and coached over 350 trainers including 100 Subject Matter Expert (SME) trainers from a variety of occupations (engineers, economists, nurses’ aides, nursing home leaders, managers, lawyers, maintenance staff and plant operators). Developing trainers, especially SMEs, is one of his favorite things to do.
  • Designed, developed and managed Wholesale Electricity Training for internal and external customers for ISO New England. Introduced web-based training concepts to an electric markets training department and selected and used course authoring software such as Articulate, which led to several successful launches of WBT modules.
  • Learning Management System development – member of selection team.
  • Authored WBT modules using Articulate.
